Customer Agreement

To use most aspects of the Services, you must register for and maintain an active personal user Services account (“Account”). You must be at least 13 years old to obtain an Account. Account registration requires you to submit to Star Laundromats certain personal information, such as your name, address, and mobile phone number, as well as at least one valid credit card. You agree to maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date information in your Account. Failure to maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date Account information, including having an invalid or expired credit card on file, may result in your inability to access and use the Services or Star Laundromats' termination of this Agreement. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your Account and agree to maintain the security and secrecy of your Account username and password at all times. Unless otherwise permitted by Star Laundromats in writing, you may only possess one Account.

By creating an Account, you agree that Star Laundromats may send you text messages (SMS) as part of the normal business operation of your use of the Services. You may opt-out of receiving SMS from Star Laundromats at any time by logging into your profile or contacting our support team. You acknowledge that opting out of receiving SMS may impact your use of the Services.

By purchasing our services, the customer agrees they are at risk at all times for the loss or damage of their personal property. Therefore, the customer agrees any claims and reimbursements must be made in accordance with Star Laundromats’ policies.

Lost Items

We take every measure to ensure there is no loss or damage to your personal property. However, you understand that there is inherent risk in the cleaning services, and there is potential for clothing and related items to get lost or damaged. Star Laundromats has implemented measures designed to prevent such situations, but we cannot guarantee they will never happen. If your items are damaged or lost due to any fault of Star Laundromats, including our employees, we will work with you to rectify the situation.

In the rare instance that items are missing or damaged, a claim must be submitted within 14 days of receiving your laundry. To make a claim, provide written notification identifying the issues with your order, along with the delivery ticket and proof of purchase or receipt.

In the event of reimbursement, which we typically issue as store credit, the amount will be the lesser of either:

10 times the cost of cleaning the item; or
The replacement value of the garment(s). The replacement value is determined as follows: 50% if the purchase was made within the last 3 months, 25% for purchases between 3-6 months old, and 10% for items purchased over 6 months ago. Receipts of garment(s) must be provided upon request.

While our staff is trained to meticulously examine each garment for personal items or valuables left inside, Star Laundromats is not responsible for any such missing items. According to New York State law, we cannot hold unclaimed garments for more than 30 days. Beyond this period, unclaimed garments will be donated to charity accordingly.

Liability

We strive to minimize any risks, but please understand that Star Laundromats will not be liable for any indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits, business interruption, or loss of garments. Our liability is capped at five-hundred ($500) dollars. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of these damages, so these limits may not apply to you.

Hand Washing

At Star Laundromats, we use advanced commercial-grade machines designed to handle a variety of laundry needs efficiently and effectively. However, we do not offer hand washing services.

For items that require "hand washing," it is the customer's responsibility to separate and clearly label these garments. When properly identified, these items will be washed on a gentle cycle to provide the utmost care. Despite these precautions, we must emphasize that due to the delicate nature of such garments, Star Laundromats is not liable for any damage that may occur during the washing process.

Customers are advised to consider the following when submitting items for gentle cycle washing:

Fabric Type: Delicate fabrics such as silk, wool, cashmere, and lace are more prone to damage and should be treated with extra care.
Labeling: Ensure that all hand wash items are clearly marked and separated from other laundry to prevent mishandling.
Inspection: Before sending items for washing, inspect for any pre-existing conditions such as tears, loose threads, or other damages that may be exacerbated during cleaning.

Special Instructions and Precautions

Identification: Use a durable tag or marker to label hand wash items clearly.
Separation: Place all hand wash items in a separate bag from regular laundry to avoid confusion.
Notification: When dropping off or scheduling a pick-up, inform our staff of the presence of hand wash items and any specific instructions.

While we strive to handle all items with the highest level of care, the nature of delicate garments means there is an inherent risk involved in machine washing, even on a gentle cycle. Star Laundromats cannot assume responsibility for damages resulting from the processing of these items. We recommend customers with highly valuable or sentimental garments consider professional hand washing or specialized cleaning services tailored specifically for delicate items.

By choosing to utilize our gentle cycle washing service for items labeled as "hand wash only," you acknowledge and accept these terms and the associated risks.

Self Service

When using our self-service laundry facilities, customers assume full responsibility for their items. Star Laundromats does not offer compensation for any damage or lost items that may occur during self-service laundering. This is an inherent risk of using self-service options.

Customer Responsibilities

Machine Operation: Ensure you are familiar with the operation of our self-service machines. Instructions are provided on each machine, and our staff is available to answer any questions during business hours.
Sorting Laundry: Sort your laundry by fabric type, color, and washing instructions to prevent damage or color bleeding.
Detergent Use: Use the appropriate amount and type of detergent for your load. Excessive detergent can cause residue buildup, while insufficient detergent may not clean effectively.
Loading Machines: Do not overload the machines, as this can cause mechanical issues and result in inadequate cleaning or damage to your items.
Monitoring Cycles: Stay with your laundry throughout the washing and drying cycles to ensure proper operation and address any issues that may arise promptly.
Inspection: Inspect machines before use to ensure they are free of any foreign objects or residues from previous users that could damage your items.

Limitations of Liability

Damage to Items: Star Laundromats is not liable for any damage to garments or items resulting from the use of our self-service machines. This includes shrinkage, color fading, color bleeding, or fabric damage.
Lost Items: We are not responsible for any items lost or stolen while using our self-service facilities. Please ensure you monitor your belongings at all times.
Machine Malfunctions: While we maintain our machines regularly, mechanical failures can occur. In the event of a machine malfunction, please report the issue to our staff immediately. However, Star Laundromats cannot be held liable for any damage or loss resulting from such malfunctions.

Recommendations for Safe Use

Pre-Wash Check: Always check your garments for any items left in pockets or any delicate features that may require special attention.
Use of Mesh Bags: Consider using mesh laundry bags for delicate items to provide extra protection during the wash cycle.
Drying Tips: Follow garment care labels for drying instructions to prevent heat damage. Use lower heat settings for delicate items.

By choosing to utilize our self-service laundry facilities, you acknowledge and accept these terms and the associated risks. Star Laundromats provides the self-service option as a convenience to our customers, and while we strive to maintain a safe and effective environment, the ultimate responsibility for the care and monitoring of your items lies with you, the customer.

Pickup and Delivery

For our pickup and delivery services, Star Laundromats may employ third-party companies to ensure timely and efficient service. If you miss a scheduled pickup or delivery, Star Laundromats incurs a charge from the third-party service provider for the unsuccessful attempt. Consequently, this expense will be passed on to you, the customer.

To avoid these charges, please ensure that you or an authorized person is available during the scheduled pickup and delivery times. If you need to reschedule, notify us as soon as possible to arrange an alternative time. Our goal is to provide flexible and convenient services, but your cooperation is essential to avoid additional fees and ensure smooth operations.

By using our pickup and delivery services, you agree to the terms and conditions related to third-party service providers. This includes their policies, procedures, and potential limitations, which may affect the pickup and delivery process. Star Laundromats is not responsible for delays or issues caused by these third-party companies. For any concerns related to their services, we recommend contacting the respective provider directly or referring to their terms and conditions.

Minimum Order

At Star Laundromats, we have established a minimum order requirement to ensure the efficient processing and delivery of our services. The minimum order is generally set at 20 pounds of laundry. However, it is important to note that the cost associated with this minimum order may vary depending on your specific location and the type of services requested.

How It Works

Placing an Order: When placing an order through our website, mobile app, or by phone, ensure that your laundry meets the 20-pound minimum requirement. Orders below this threshold are acceptable but will be charged as if they weigh 20 pounds.

Service Fees

Missed Pickup or Delivery Fee

If you miss a scheduled pickup or delivery, a fee will be charged. This fee is necessary to cover the costs incurred by our team and third-party logistics providers for the attempted service. To avoid this fee, please ensure that you are available during the scheduled times or notify us in advance if you need to reschedule.

Liability for Third-Party Services

For our Flex Pickup service, which utilizes various gig economy delivery services, including Uber, Star Laundromats is not liable for any errors or issues caused by these third-party providers or their drivers. While we strive to provide reliable and timely service, the responsibility for any errors, delays, or damages that occur during transportation with these third-party services lies with the service provider. We recommend reviewing the terms and conditions of the respective delivery service for more information about their liability policies.

Subscriptions

Recurring Orders

By purchasing a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly subscription, you agree to an initial and recurring subscription fee at the then-current subscription rate, and you accept responsibility for all recurring charges until you cancel your subscription. You may cancel your monthly subscription at any time.

Automatic Monthly Renewal Terms

Once you subscribe, Star Laundromats will automatically process your recurring fee in the next billing cycle. Star Laundromats will continue to automatically process your recurring fee each month at the then-current monthly subscription rate, until you cancel your subscription. We explain below how to cancel your monthly subscription.

How to Cancel Your Subscription

For our plans, there is no long-term commitment. Simply cancel it yourself within the customer dashboard/app or email jason@starlaundromats.com at least two days prior to your renewal and we’ll cancel your subscription for you.
